As we all know, the World is going through COVID-19 pandemic, countries have adopted many comprehensive approaches to suppress the transmission and save lives. However, many countries with lower medical facilities have failed to adapt to the situation and taken fragmented approach are going to face some tough time in the near future.
According to WHO, more than 10.3 million cases of COVID-19 have now been reported,
and more than 506,000 deaths. The number of new cases have gone past 160,000 on every single day in the last week. Moreover, 60% of the overall cases have been reported in the past month.
WHO says, We will never get tired of saying that the best way out of this pandemic is to take a comprehensive approach. Find, isolate, test and care for every case, trace and quarantine every contact, equip and train health workers and educate and empower communities to protect themselves and others.
"Not testing alone. Not physical distancing alone. Not contact tracing alone. Not masks alone. Do it all"
Also said, one of the lessons of the pandemic is that no matter what situation a country is in, it can be turned around. It’s never too late. The fastest way out of this pandemic is to follow the science and do what we know works: the comprehensive approach.
WHO has brought together more than 1000 scientists from around the world to know the progress made so far, to discuss the research process and construct the knowledge gap between the scientists. This would hep to define the research priorities for the remainder of the year and afar.
The pandemic has shown a divergent face for each region, but, the approach shouldn't be different from any region to come out of this daunting situation. We must ensure the combination of leadership, humility, active participation by every member of society, and implementing a comprehensive approach.
Over the course of next few weeks, the organization would plan to feature each regions condition and highlight the challenges in different parts of the globe and collate the inferences in order to come up with a strategy.
