The 2019–21 ICC World Test Championship will be the inaugural edition of the ICC World Test Championship of Test cricket. It will start in July 2019 and finish with a final in England in June 2021.
The International Cricket Council has come up with three new features to promote the new tournament more interesting and appealing, especially to the younger generation.
What are the new features?
The players will be participating with both numbers and Instagram handles to kits from the beginning of the World Test Championship, to make the game more appealing to the younger generation audiences.
This one should be more fun for the viewers. Runs scored in the evening session of day/night Tests will count double, creating a new and exciting strategic element
. So, for each six a player hits twelve runs will be added to the total.
And finally, should teams be level on the World Test Championship table, the first tie-breaking criteria will be 'Away Runs' ie. the runs scored by a team away from home will be counted for a tie-breaker situation in the tournament.
